Salt mix is the synthetic sea-salt blend you dissolve in RODI water to make saltwater — reef blends carry extra calcium, alkalinity and magnesium for coral tanks.
Mix and aerate it to fully dissolve and reach the right salinity before it touches livestock — never add dry salt to the tank. Roughly 36 grams per litre gives about 35 ppt, but always confirm with a refractometer.
