Your data, and how we handle it

The short version: your logs and settings stay on your device, email is optional, and we never sell or share your information. Here's the honest detail.

🔒 Your logs stay on your device

Coralkin's tracking tools keep your records right in your own web browser (using a feature called local storage). That means the readings you log in the reef parameter tracker, the progress you note in the cycling tracker, and the species a tool like the care scheduler remembers for you all live on your device — and nowhere else. There is no account and no server behind them. Those logs are:

  • Kept on your device — no account and no server holding it, so your readings never leave your hands.
  • Yours, and private — it's your tank's own history to keep an eye on and spot trends, not something we look over.
  • Yours to remove anytime — clear it in the tool, or clear your browser's site data, and it's gone.

Because it lives in one browser on one device, it won't follow you to a different browser or phone — and clearing your browsing data will erase it. Most of our trackers have a print / save-PDF button so you can keep your own copy of your tank's history.

Email — only if you ask for it

If you choose to join the shoal (our email list), we collect the email address you give us, so we can send the reef care content you asked for. That's the only personal detail we ask for, and only when you opt in.

  • Our email list is managed by Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, an EU company based in France), which stores your address and the page you signed up from (such as which species or kit), may record whether our emails are opened or clicked, and sends our emails on our behalf; we don't pass it to anyone else.
  • Every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also reply to any of our emails (or write to hello@coralkin.com) to be taken off the list — leave whenever you like.
  • We use it to send helpful reef care content — never to sell you out or hand your address to third parties.

Hosting & basic technical data

Coralkin is a fast, static website served through Cloudflare. Like any website, its servers automatically process standard request information (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and keep the site secure. We don't use this to build a profile of you.

Cookies & tracking

On this website, Coralkin does not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking, and we don't run third-party analytics that profile you. The only thing we store on your device is the on-device logs and settings described above — which are for your convenience, not our surveillance.

What we never do

  • We never sell your data.
  • We never share it for third-party advertising.
  • We don't require an account to read our guides or use our tools — access is never gated behind a login.

Your choices & your rights

You're in control: you can clear your on-device logs at any time, and you can unsubscribe from our newsletters with one click (or reply to any of our emails and ask). Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold (in practice, if you've subscribed, that's your email address, the page you signed up from, and whether our emails were opened or clicked). To make a request, or to ask anything about your data, email hello@coralkin.com and we'll help.

Children

Coralkin is a general-audience reef-care site and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children; if you believe a child has sent us their details, contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this notice

If our practices change — for example if we ever add optional accounts that sync your logs across devices — we'll update this page and the “last updated” date above before that change goes live, and describe exactly what's different.

Latest change: our email provider is now Brevo (it replaced EmailOctopus).
