Quarantine

Also called: QT · quarantine tank

Quarantine (QT) is isolating new fish in a separate, cycled tank for a few weeks to observe and treat them before they join the display — the best defence against introducing disease.

It's especially critical for ich-prone fish like tangs. A separate QT also lets you medicate without dosing your whole reef, since many treatments are toxic to corals and inverts.
