Kalkwasser

Also called: limewater · kalk

Kalkwasser ("lime water") is a saturated calcium-hydroxide solution dripped into the tank to replenish calcium and alkalinity at once while helping hold pH up.

It's a classic, cheap way to keep a reef's chemistry stable, usually dosed through the auto-top-off. It must be added slowly and in the dark hours, because it's strongly basic — a common intermediate method rather than a beginner's first step.
